Welcome to the official web site for the Rocket City Jazz Orchestra. The Rocket City Jazz Orchestra has become North Alabama's most active and sought after jazz and swing big band. This 19-piece band, based in Huntsville, Alabama, delivers exciting big band jazz, swing, and pop music througout North Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee. Classics from Glenn Miller and Count Basie reside in the band's library along with big band arrangements of tunes from modern performers such as Earth, Wind, and Fire, Brian Setzer and Phil Collins. This eclectic repertoire ensures performances that appeal to audiences of all ages. The band, originally known as The Band In Demand or simply TBD, was formed in 2002 as part of a musical production with a 1940s theme. The band's schedule now includes concerts and festivals such as Huntsville's Panoply of the Arts, Jazz-N-June, and Concerts in the park, as well as charitable fundraising events, formal balls, wedding receptions, and corporate functions.
